Aerospace Engineering - IIAEM is one of the Aeronautical Engineering that prepares the graduates in Aerospace Engineering for research careers as well as higher level skills for industrial design, problem solving and innovation in aeronautics sector. Postgraduate programs being offered by IIAEM are full time for the duration of two years (4 semesters). They have strong practical components with a focus to train students to acquire skills required to undertake industrial tasks with minimum on-the-job training and orientation at work place. The facilities provided by IIAEM grooms students to become Aerospace Engineers who are exposed to theory, associated practical experiments in the laboratories and project work as a part of Activity Based Learning (ABL). The specialization details of various programs are as follows:-
Existing five tracks (Aerospace Structures, Aerodynamics, Aircraft Propulsion, Avionics and Manufacturing & Management) would continue with improvisation in the syllabus content which would be further tuned to industry needs and practice. The Institute also offers a special program (Aerospace Engineering Degree) for working professionals (3 years) leading to award of M. Tech. degree subject to satisfactory completion of course work and a research project, in the above areas of specialization.
In order to enhance the undergraduate experience, it is being proposed to establish a design lab for skill development in aerospace beyond confines of the syllabus. As important as final papers and theoretical fundamentals may be, design is best understood as a process that involves research, collaboration, problem solving, and exploration of theory’s practical standpoint — precisely the essential learning outcomes that are highly valued by industry.
At present, the following Value Added Programs are being conducted from time to time at IIAEM :-
Flight Lab training at IIT Kanpur or at Taneja Aerospace Aviation Limited, Hosur – Experiments conducted in Flight lab for B.Tech. / M.Tech Students. This will expose our students to various aspects of the aircraft like flying, aircraft systems, navigation, and ground operations and involve them in basics of aircraft performance evaluation.
Short term courses are conducted by IIAEM for scientists and engineers of other organizations held in the area of their specialisations or related fields to update their knowledge and to network with their peers.
