A Guest Lecture on Data Science Around Us

School of Engineering and Technology, Jain (Deemed-to-be University) organized a guest lecture on Data Science Around Us on 8 April 2017. The speaker of the session was Dr. Debashis Guha.
Dr. Debashis Guha has more than two decades of experience in data analytics and machine learning, with an emphasis on economic and financial applications. He is the founder and CEO of a Bangalore based Data Analytics Company, and worked as a consultant for governments, central banks, multinational corporations. He has taught in both USA and India. Dr. Guha is a graduate from IIT Kharagpur, and holds a Ph.D. from Columbia University in New York. He is also the Program Director for Machine Learning at SP Jain School of High technology.
The speaker started the session with introduction to Big data in day to day life. The speaker explained about how the data is collected earlier and how data is collected now, what are the sources of data available.
The main points discussed were:

- Internet browsing
- Health care
He then gave a detail explanation in Orthogonal Data.
