Department of Basic science
The Department of Basic Sciences was established in 2005 at the forefront to provide a strong academic foundation that delivers quality education for meeting the global challenges of science and technology. The department has been engaged in imparting quality academic education and has focused on research to address key scientific problems. The objective of the department is to generate human resource of exceptional quality and to contribute to the university to have a leading edge in science and technology that produces classic research, knowledge base and academic leadership.
The department has a spectrum of bachelor and master programs with the aim of producing marvelous engineers and scientists with high professional competence and research aptitude. The department has well-staffed dedicated faculty with high-end qualification in the field of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English, Sociology and Value education. Their areas of research interest include vistas of Operations Research, Fluid Mechanics, Statistical Analysis, Bio-organic Chemistry, X-ray Crystallography, Medicinal Chemistry, Organometallic Chemistry, and Nanotechnology. There are significant numbers of publications in peer reviewed National and International journals as well as through various conferences, workshops, seminars, etc. The department is dedicated to organize the National/International conferences, FDP, Workshops annually in collaboration with various industries and academic partners for the betterment of student community and science and technology.
The Department of Basic Sciences acts as a catalyst to support all the engineering courses at the Graduate and Undergraduate level in various domains of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English, EVS, Sociology, Value Education. In the first year of bachelor’s degree, the department feeds the budding engineer with the finer aspects of science that makes them to explore, innovate and contribute to the technological advancement of tomorrow.

- JU-FET manages innovative teaching and research excellence to improve the engineering profession.
- The Department arranges life skills training programs for students and provides pre-placement program for seventh-semester students
