Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) organized an online guest lecture titled “Importance of Design in Industry” on May 22, 2021. The keynote speaker was Mr. Lokesh S, a design validation specialist. A total of 87 students attended the lecture.

The session started with the brief introduction of the guest speaker by Abhijeeth Nagaraj, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, FET, JAIN (Deemed-to-be University). The guest lecture aimed at providing an industrial approach to design. The lecture highlighted that it is essential for any mechanical engineer aspiring to be a design engineer to be well-aware of the industrial processes and tools involved. It was discussed as to how the invention of FEA and other computer simulations have made design in mechanical engineering undergo a rapid change. The guest lecture aimed at educating the faculties and students on how to approach industrial problems.

Post an hour-long knowledgeable speech the session was open for questions and discussions. The session was concluded with a vote of thanks by N Karthik, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, FET, JAIN (Deemed-to-be University). The event also included a feedback session for the participants, and the responses were mostly positive. Overall the event was a success and provided valuable insights into the topic.
