Guest Lecture on Water Quality Parameters

Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) organized an online guest lecture titled “Water Quality Parameters” on May 19, 2021. The guest speaker for the event was Professor Subrat Kumar Bhuyan from G. H. Raisoni Institute of Engineering and Technology, Pune.

The first one to address the participants was Dr. Adarsha H, HOD – Department of Mechanical Engineering, FET, JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), followed by Professor Bheemkumar N, Coordinator – M. Tech, Department of Mechanical Engineering. Dr. Ashutosh Pattanaik introduced the speaker to the participants.

The basic knowledge of discriminating water from wastewater was thoroughly covered during the talk. Professor Bhuyan focused on the elements polluting the water, their effects, and techniques to measure these elements. The lecture aimed at educating people on water, its quality, and effective ways to reuse it so that the community is more aware of the proper usage of water. The technical aspects of wastewater and its impact on the environment were also highlighted. It provided essential guidance to design wastewater treatment plants. It enabled students to understand the importance of effective residual management and also provided knowledge of the basics of industrial wastewater treatment. The event also included a feedback session for the participants, and the responses were mostly positive. Overall the event was a success and provided insights into the topic.
