Industrial Visit 2022 to Solar Power Plant

The students of the Department of Electrical & Electronics of Faculty of Engineering & Technology JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) visited the Solar Power Plant in Doddalahalli in Kanakapura as the part of industrial visit curriculum on 11th October 2022.

The privately owned Solar Power Plant is spread across 75 hectares, capable to generate nearly about 20 MW of electrical energy from solar energy. The vast solar panels spread across the plant converts the solar energy into electrical energy and transmit it to the main power grid.

The Solar Power Plant is divided into 5 zones, each generating 4 MW of power daily from 7.00 AM to 5.00 PM. The fixed solar panels are only capable to generate electricity in the daytime, while the plant goes for maintenance during the night.  The semi-automated power plant is monitored from two different control rooms with limited personnel throughout the year.

The faculty from the JAIN (Deemed-to-be University); Dr.Sujith Kumar K (Asst. Prof.) and Dr.Hannah Jessie Rani K (Asst. Prof.), Mr.Raghu N, Ms.Yashaswini H K and Ms.Spoorthi accompanied the students for the industrial visit. All of them interacted with the students and gave practical explanation of the working of the Solar Power Plant.

The industrial visit was very informative as all the students got the practical knowledge of working of the solar power plant and green electricity generation.
