Jain (Deemed-to-be University), School of Engineering and Technology, Department of Mechanical Engineering organized industrial visit to Central Manufacturing Technology Institute (CMTI) on 14 November 2019. CMTI is an R & D organization focusing its efforts mainly on harnessing know-how in the manufacturing technology sector to practical purposes and assisting technological growth in the country. CMTI has the role of being a Catalyst and a Key Player in manufacturing technology growth in the country.

General Instructions were given to the students before entering inside the industry regarding safety measures, disciplinary movement, dos and don’ts, security issues and timings.

Firstly they took us to metrology lab and there was a half an hour elaborate explanation and discussion on all the measuring instruments used by CMTI. Later the students had to visit Advanced  manufacturing  lab were they were exposed to latest manufacturing techniques and processes, highly structured explanation was given by in charge. The students proceeded to Additive Manufacturing Lab were the next generation manufacturing is done with the help of 3D printing technology, the process was thoroughly explained and some of the applications were also shown to the students.

The students were introduced to Conventional manufacturing machines unit where lathe, computer numerical controlled machines, direct numerical controlled machines and universal manufacturing machines was explained for its programmed turning milling and machining operations.
