As a part of welcoming 1st year B. Tech students to JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), the Faculty of Engineering and Technology had the honour of hosting resource persons who held expertise and insights into the world of technology.
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering organized three industry talks. These sessions aimed to introduce the industry, highlight the enriching opportunities, our ongoing efforts to strengthen industry connections and reinforce our commitment to their professional growth.
Dr. Savitha (AI Tech Lead from IBM) delivered an engaging and thought-provoking session focused on the rapidly evolving landscape of emerging technologies. She provided valuable insights into the current trends in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Data Science, emphasizing how these technologies shape various industries' future. Her presentation also covered the practical applications of AI in real-world scenarios, offering our students a glimpse into the innovative work.
Mr. JIT Goel, Founder & CEO of XCEL Corp (USA) covered a range of critical topics, including the significance of industry-academic partnerships, an overview of XCEL Corp and its innovative services, and the company's strong emphasis on research and development. He shared success stories from XCEL Corp that provided students with a clear understanding of the company's impact and contributions to the tech industry. In addition, Mr. Goel discussed current emerging technologies and highlighted exciting job opportunities available in India and abroad. The session concluded with an in-depth discussion on XCEL Corp's hiring mechanisms and interview processes, offering valuable insights for students preparing to enter the workforce.
Mr. Deep Narayan, Senior Consultant at Medhavart System and a visiting professor at the International Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore, began the session by emphasizing the importance of performance improvement, urging students to continually develop their skills and knowledge base to stay competitive in the rapidly evolving field of Data Science. He provided detailed insights into fundamental tools, including Excel basics and its essentials, and introduced the students to the Informatica ETL tool and Tableau software. These tools were presented as powerful resources for data visualization, extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL)—all vital components in the Data Science domain. Furthermore, Mr. Narayan offered a comprehensive overview of current market needs and trends, particularly highlighting the increasing demand for data-driven decision-making that is reshaping industries worldwide. His emphasis on mastering the Informatica ETL tool as a key to better placement opportunities resonated with the students, motivating them to explore and hone these critical skills to align with industry requirements.
