Mega Virtual Conference on Advanced Robotics and Autonomous Systems Integrated with Every Discipline of Engineering

Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET), Jain (Deemed-to-be University) recently hosted its 4th Annual Series of National Conference Jnana Chilume 2020 with Application of Advanced Robotics and Autonomous Systems Integrated with Every Discipline of Engineering and Technology as its theme. Conducted virtually, this mega event was jointly hosted by several Schools at the Faculty of Engineering and Technology offering a platform for leading academic scientists, industrialists, and research scholars to share their experiences and research achievements as well as to exchange their ideas on interdisciplinary domains. Leading academicians, various research scholars, R & D institutes, industry delegates, post-graduation, and graduate students were invited to this event. The conference also focused on the current technical challenges, research updates, and breakthrough innovations that are shaping the future of science and engineering worldwide. The event witnessed the participation of over 1000 participants from across the country.

School of Computer Science Engineering and Department of Mathematics presented Role of Computing and Mathematics for Advancement in Industrial Robotics” which received a tremendous response all across the country. The session started with Prof Monica Anand, Assistant Professor, School of CSE by introducing Dr. Kuldeep Sharma, Head, School of CSE, FET, Jain (Deemed-to-be University). Dr. Kuldeep Sharma shared the scope and highlights of the conference, the applications of robotics in an inter-disciplinary environment.

School of Aerospace hosted an informative session on Recent Advances in Aerospace Engineering and Robotics where the keynote speaker Dr. Raghunandan (Ex-Chairman, Aerospace Department, IISc) spoke about the latest innovations in Green Technologies in Aerospace Propulsion. The second keynote speaker Col V. S. Velan presented his views on NAVIC being a boon for Indian Aviation explaining the concept of the system in detail, comparing it to the GPS and its application for navigation of aircraft in the Indian subcontinent. Dr. K Soundarajan, the third keynote speaker, spoke on Integrated Modular Avionics which gave a detailed history of avionics in our country's aircraft design projects and future commercial aircraft.

School of Electrical Engineering chooses to focus on topics Automation, Control, and Communication. School of Mechanical Engineering, School of Civil Engineering, and Department of Physics jointly organized a talk session on Technical Transformations in Materials, Manufacturing, Design, Automation and Energy Engineering.

Department of Food Technology, Department of Chemistry, and Department of Humanities and Social Sciences hosted a session on Technical and Socio-Economic Transformations of Robotics and Automation in Food Technology and Chemical Sciences. Chief guest Dr. Gourab Chatterjee - President, AFST(I) Haldia Chapter, Head, Department of Food Technology (NBA Accredited Department) Haldia Institute of Technology, gave a plenary talk on “Food Service’s new normal after pandemic”. The insightful session gave the participants an understanding of the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on the food sector, their economic impact in Indian food and agriculture sector.

Overall, the event was an astounding success and has been a transformative experience for all the participants. Hosted virtually, Jnana Chilume 2020 was able to give a platform to network and bond with one’s peers as well as connect with experts from various domains. Through research work and paper submission, participants were acquainted with the latest trends, current methodologies, and innovative tools that will prove beneficial and offer career-elevating experience.
