National Workshop on Real Time Intrusion Detection for Cloud Computing Environment

Department of Information Science & Engineering at Faculty of Engineering & Technology (FET), Jain (Deemed-to-be University) organized a three day online hands-on workshop on “Real-time Intrusion Detection for Cloud Computing Environment” in collaboration with Department of IT, VNR VJIET, Hyderabad and School of Computing, VIT (Deemed to be University) Chennai.

Dr. T Subbulakshmi who has wide experience in the networking domain, started the first session on September 29, 2020. He introduced the basic concepts with the mobile application and further continued by demonstrating how the datasets can be generated with a virtual machine in Linux environment.

The second session of the workshop was held on October 1, 2020 that started with an introduction to public clouds and the generation of datasets using the Amazon Web Services cloud platform. The security aspects of networking and how the Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks can be flooded into network and its detection in the cloud environment were also discussed.

The final and third session of the workshop was held on October 2, 2020 that elaborated on the creation and security aspects in networking to demonstrate how the UDP flood attacks, PING Flood attacks can be captured in the network and make use of those datasets using any machine learning algorithms.

The Three Days workshop was completely hands-on and it was very beneficial for all the participants. It received overwhelming responses from the participants who showed keen interest to be a part of many more such enriching workshops in the future.
