Students of JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) create awareness about Nutrition in children through “POSHAN ABHYAN”

The NSS volunteers from the Faculty of Engineering and Technology JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) organised an initiative “POSHAN ABHYAN” to create awareness about healthy food and nutrition among the children. The event was held in Paduvanagere near Kanakapura from 28-Sep-2022 to 30-Sept-2022.

On the first day, volunteers organised many fun-filled activities like Quiz competitions, Small talk sessions etc. for everyone under the theme of “Healthy Food”; to develop awareness about the nutritional values of a variety of food items. Along with this, the volunteers helped the children to learn more about science, food and plants throughout the day. The evening was filled with joy with everyone participating in fun activities like dancing, singing, campfire etc. As a token of appreciation sweets and chocolates were distributed to everyone.

The next day our volunteers engaged the students by spreading awareness about different types of food items that consisted of high proteins, carbohydrates and vitamins. All the volunteers spoke about the health benefits of consuming leafy vegetables and milk along with the benefits of daily exercises. The children were also told about the harmful effects of junk foods its effects on the health in the longer go. The children were made to understand about the techniques to overcome the challenge of avoiding junk food.

Further to give a traditional touch to “POSHAN ABHYAN”, tasty and nutritional banana leaf meals were arranged for everyone by the volunteers of JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) in association with Mr Raju, Head Master, Government High School Paduvanagere.
