Graduation day is always a day of rejoicing, for it marks the conclusion of an educational journey and the commencement of another more uncertain and more difficult part of man’s quest for a better life and future. It truly signifies the culmination of many years of hard work in the relentless pursuit of knowledge.
Jain (Deemed-to-be University), School of Engineering and Technology organized Upasthapana - Graduation Gay on 16 November 2019, with 200+ happy students and their proud parents and family.
Mr. Pratap Hegde, serial entrepreneur, a technologist, social activist was the Chief Guest of the event. He is an organic farmer with a distinctly unique and innovative approach to business that draws from the principles of nature/bio-mimicry. His professional work experience spans over 25 years in the IT/ITeS domain, having served in key leadership / strategic management positions in various domains and industries. He has pioneered and conceptualized new age economic models that knit together private, public, social sectors as well as the scientific community, academia and citizenry – all coming together via collaborative platforms enabled by emerging digital technologies. He is also actively involved in many social organizations in the areas of River Rejuvenation, around waste management, organic Farming, Farmer producer Companies, Elderly Care Houses, Destitute Children Houses etc. Mr. Hegde is an invited faculty at various Higher Education Institutions including IIM, Bangalore, IMPM Program (Mc Gill University, Canada), and a large number of other Institutions.
He reinforced the significance of vedic chantings which preceded the commencement of graduation ceremony. He said the graduates should follow the teachings of our ancient veda and be responsible towards society and continually be on the quest for knowledge throughout one’s professional journey. He talked about the global scenario with respect to the challenges the millennial would be facing and at the same time motivated them to be well equipped to convert them to opportunities. He also told that the onus is on the millennials to overcome challenges before them caused by the rapid globalization in terms of environmental degradation and resource crunch. He congratulated them on being more responsible than the previous generation towards environment.
Dr. Hariprasad, Director congratulated the cheerful graduates for their years of toiling to bring their efforts to fruition. He stressed on the importance of hard work in taking them to greater heights of achievement. He reminded them to be good ambassadors of their alma mater Jain (Deemed to be University). He also told the students that they will always be welcome at the university and look forward to hearing about their personal and professional achievements as they build on the foundation provided by the university. He was confident of the graduates being well prepared for their future endeavors as their seniors before them, due to the knowledge and skills imparted by an excellent education.
Dr. Chandra Sekar Shastry, welcomed the gathering and congratulated the students. He narrated the various slokhas on graduation and education. Mr. Ravindra Bhandary, Vice President congratulated the outgoing batch of 2019 and urged them to be physically and mentally active so that they can be fully efficient in their chosen profession over the next 40 odd years. He pointed the importance of having a smile on one’s face and demeanor in approaching any task which will bring about positivity in personal and professional life. He also asked the students to be ethical and empathetic in any situation and that it will take them a long way in finding success.
