Women’s Day Celebration

International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. This day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.

International Women’s Day has been observed since the early 1900s. It was a time of great expansion and turbulence in the industrialized world that saw booming population growth and the rise of radical ideologies.

Taking the essence forward Women’s Day was organized in the School of Engineering and Technology, Jain (Deemed-to-be University) to pay a tribute to the spirit of being a woman on 9 March 2020. Faculty members including Dr. Anita Chaturvedi, Prof. Archana Jyothi Kiran, Dr. Kokila Ramesh, Mrs. Monika Anand, and all men and women faculty members joined hands with the students to support the event and bring it to success.

There was a Panel discussion on the topic “Should a woman be an entrepreneur or employed”. The panel discussion was participated by fifteen panellists comprising of faculty members and students representing both genders.

The highlights of the discussion were,

- A woman can excel in both the streams be it at work or in life
- A woman should have the freedom to choose her career based on her interest
- She should be given equal rights and importance in all walks of life
