Dr. Antonio Davis

Director-in-Charge IIAEM

B.E., MS., Ph.D.

Dr. Antonio Davis is the Director-in-Charge, Department of Aerospace Engineering at JAIN (Deemed-to-be University). He has done his B.E. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Gulbarga University and M.S. Research in Aerospace Engineering from IIT-Madras. He obtained his Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering in the area of Computational Fluid dynamics for internal flows from IISc, Bangalore.

He joined DRDO and was involved in the heat transfer analysis of Kaveri Engine after burner system and performance prediction of convergent-divergent propelling nozzles. He worked as the Principal consultant in Cyient Ltd, and was providing engineering and analytical support to Pratt & Whitney Canada aircraft engines. He worked as the research coordinator for P&WC research programs in CSIR-NAL and IIT Bombay.

He is involved in teaching and research in the field of Aircraft Propulsion, Gas Dynamics, Heat Transfer and CFD. He has published several papers in both National and International conferences and journals.

Dr. Allamaprabhu C Yaravintelimath

Associate Professor

Dr. Allamaprabhu is working as Associate Professor in Department of Aerospace Engineering at JAIN (Deemed-to-be University). He graduated in B.E. Mechanical Engineering from Karnataka University Dharwad and completed M.Tech. in Heat Power Engineering from National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Surathkal. He holds Ph.D. degree in Aerospace Engineering from IISc, Bengaluru. He worked as Research Associate for an ISRO project at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru.

He teaches subjects related to Aerospace Propulsion and his research interest is in the area of Turbulence Modelling and CFD application to Rocket Nozzles and Small Gas Turbine Engines.

Dr. S. Ramprasad

Associate Professor

Dr. S. Ramprasad is working as Associate Professor in Department of Aerospace Engineering at JAIN (Deemed-to-be University). He has completed his B.Tech. in Civil Engineering from UVCE, Bangalore, M.Tech. in Aerospace Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology, USA and obtained Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from JAIN (Deemed-to-be University). He has 30+ years of experience in teaching, research and industry.

His areas of interest are Stress Analysis of Composites, Structural Dynamics, Optimisation, Digital Twin, SHM, FEM, Aircraft Structures, Stability of Structures, Data Analytics, Deep Learning, Nonlinear methods, Health and Usage Monitoring, Bayesian Networks, Aero-elasticity, Reliability Methods, Neural Networks, Genetic Algorithms, Response Surface Methods, Meta Models, Condition-based Maintenance. He has published 9+ research papers in various National and International journals and holds 1 patent.

Dr. Nandini Robin Nadar

Associate Professor

B.E., M.Tech., Six-Sigma -Black Belt, Ph.D.

Dr. Nandini Robin Nadar is working as Associate Professor at Department of Aerospace Engineering in JAIN (Deemed-to-be University). She has pursued her B.E. degree from P.E.S College of Engineering, and M.Tech. degree from R.V. College of Engineering. She has completed her Ph.D. work in CENSE department, Indian Institute of Science under Indian Nano-electronics Users Program (INUP) with VTU. She has completed Six-Sigma- Black Belt from IIT-Delhi and has worked as a research associate in IIT Bombay. She has successfully completed hands-on training on Nano fabrication technologies, MEMS Cantilever, Micro & Nano characterisation techniques from CENSCE department, IISC, Bangalore.

She has 16+ years of experience in teaching, research and industry and she has published 15+ research articles in various Elsevier and springer publications. She was also invited as key note speaker to many sessions, and she has also chaired various International and National conferences. She has completed two funded projects from government agencies and she has completed two consultancy works with L&T Mumbai.

Her areas of interest are Smart Materials and Structures, Bio-materials, Energy Storage Devices, Nano-Robotics, Piezoelectric Load Cells, Transducers, Sensors and Bio-medical Devices and Green Composites towards sustainability.

Prof. V. Amritharaju

Associate Professor

M.E., Ph.D.

Prof. Amritharaju.V is working as Associate Professor at Department of Aerospace Engineering in JAIN (Deemed-to-be University). He has graduated with B.E. in Mechanical Engineering and M.E.in Manufacturing Science and Engineering from the University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering (UVCE), Bangalore. He has 23+ years of experience in teaching, research and industry.

Currently, he is pursuing research in Composite Materials and he teaches courses on Composites, Aircraft Materials, Processing and Testing, CAD/CAM, Machine Drawing, Hydraulics and Pneumatics, Automation and Robotics, Engine Materials and Fabrication.

His areas of research interest are Polymer Matrix Composites, Characterisation of Materials, Testing of Composites and Structures and Recycling of Composites. He has presented papers at National and International conferences.

Prof. Ashok Bakshi

Professor

B.Tech. (Aero), M.Tech. (Aerospace Structures from IISc)

Prof. Ashok Bakshi is working as Professor in Department of Aerospace Engineering at JAIN (Deemed-to-be University). He has completed his M.E. from IISc, Bangalore and B.Tech. from MIT, under Anna University Chennai. He has 40+ years of teaching, research and industry experience and is actively involved in aerospace research and design field. He has worked in ISRO at the Vikram Sarabhai Space Center, Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala where he was involved in ASLV, PSLV and GSLV project in system design and analysis.

His areas research interest are Aircraft, Rockets and Satellite Structural Design, Elastic Stability, Space Module System Design, Composite Structures, FEM, Structural Dynamics. He is a life member of Aeronautical society of India, Astronautically Society of India, System society of India and Computer society of India (CSI).

Currently his research interest is in New Aircraft Design, Blended Wing Body (BWB), Manned Mission, Fixed Wing UAV for civil and military applications.

Prof. K.S. Vishwanath,

Prof. K.S.Vishwanath, is working as an Assistant Professor at Department of Aerospace Engineering in JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) Faculty of Engineering and Technology. He has graduated in B.E. in EEE from Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) and holds the M.Tech. degree in Aerospace Engineering and has also taken “Flight Lab Course” from IIT-Kanpur, currently he is pursuing his Ph.D. from JAIN (Deemed-to-be University). He has 10.5+ years of experience in teaching, research and administration. He has served as head of the internals conducting committee, MIS coordinator, Newsletter Coordinator, Class Teacher, Mentor and actively participated in different work projects by the UGC, NBA and NAAC.

His areas of teaching interest are Structures, Composites, Fatigue and Fracture, FEM and his areas of research interest are; Delamination in Composites due to static, fatigue and impact loads, MVCCI, Cohesive Zone Modelling and Peridynamics. He was also the member of faculty selection committee and was the active member of interview board along with Director, Principal, HOD for many candidates. He has handled 17 theory subjects and also has hands on experience in the CAE software tool MSC NASTRAN/PATRAN from Tech Mahindra Aerospace. He is proficient in Simulia, Abaqus and Fortron Softwares.

He has published research papers in National and International journals and has participated in many conferences, guest lectures, workshops, seminars, industry visits and faculty development programmes.

Prof. Shashikumar S

Prof. Shashikumar S working as an Assistant Professor Department of Aerospace Engineering in JAIN (Deemed-to-be University). He has completed his B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Bapuji Institute of Technology, and M.Tech. in Aerospace Structures from JAIN (Deemed-to-be University). Currently he is pursuing Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering at JAIN (Deemed-to-be University).

He has 8+ years of experience in teaching, research and industry and he has published various research papers in National and International journals. His research interests are in the area of Finite Element Methods and Aerospace Structures & Materials.

Dr. Tamal Jana

Assistant Professor

B.Tech., M.Tech., Ph.D.

Dr. Tamal Jana is working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Aerospace Engineering at JAIN (Deemed-to-be University). He received his Ph.D. in Aerodynamics from IIT-Kharagpur. He has worked on Flame Jet Mixing characteristics at Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).

His areas of research interest are Computational Assessment of Shock/Boundary-Layer Interactions, Jet Control and Base Flows. He has published his research papers in several National and International conferences and has peer-reviewed SCIE-indexed journals.

Dr. K. Raja Sekar

Assistant Professor

Dr. K. Raja Sekar is working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Aerospace Engineering at JAIN (Deemed-To-Be University). He is having 15+ years of experience in teaching, research, and administration. He served as a member of the Faculty Selection Committee, and Question Paper Setting Board in various institutes.

He has published 15+ research papers and book chapters and has served as an advisor and steering committee member in National and International Conferences. His areas of research focus are on Supersonic Inlets, Supersonic Combustion and CFD.

Dr. V. Hariprasad

Assistant Professor

B.E., M.E., Ph.D.

Dr. V. Hariprasad is working as Assistant Professor at Department of Aerospace Engineering in JAIN (Deemed-to-be University). He has received B.E. degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Kumaragu College of Technology, Anna University and M.E. degree in Spacecraft Engineering from ESTACA, University of Versailles, France. He has completed his Ph.D. from Anna University.

He has developed UAVs for various applications and demonstrated them successfully. His research interest is in Unmanned Aerial Vehicle & Materials and currently he is focused on developing Artificial Intelligence powered drone for commercial as well as for Defense purposes.

He organised the National level Aero Design Content on behalf of SAE India Southern Section and has also assisted an Agri-Start-up by utilizing the UAV for fertilizer and pesticide spraying. He is acting as a reviewer at various International Journals and has completed 2 R&D Funded project and published patents.

Dr. Somashekar V

Dr. Somashekar V. is working as an Assistant professor in Department of Aerospace Engineering at JAIN (Deemed-to-be University). He has completed his B.E. in Mechanical Engineering and M.Tech. in Aerospace Engineering from Vishveshwaraya Technological University (VTU). He holds a Ph.D. in Aerodynamics from Vellore Institute of Technology and has 10+ years of experience in teaching, research and industry.

His areas of interest are Low-speed Subsonic Wind Tunnel Testing, Industrial Aerodynamics, and Micro Aerial Vehicles (MAVs), Unsteady Aerodynamics, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), and Hydrogen Fuel Cells for UAV applications.

Prof. Stanley Samlal

Prof. Stanley is working as Assistant Professor in Department of Aerospace Engineering at JAIN (Deemed-to-be University). He has 10+ years of experience in learning & development and research.

His areas of research are mechanics, fracture, longevity, damage resistance, and damage tolerance of Composite Materials and their structures, Dynamic behaviour of materials and structures on impact loading, Role of hybrid face sheets in the low-velocity impact, and application of Foam core sandwich structures.

He has completed many funded projects from the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and non-governmental projects and he is an Associate Member (AM) of the Aeronautical Society of India (AeSI).

Prof. Akhila Rupesh

Prof. Akhila serves as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Aerospace Engineering at JAIN (Deemed-to-be University). She has received her B.E degree in Aeronautical Engineering with and M.E degree from Anna University. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from Lovely Professional University. She has worked at various reputed Engineering colleges and Universities across India.

Her areas of research interest are Aerodynamics, Flow measurement and Wind Tunnel Instrumentation. She has published 40+ papers in various National and International Journals, and she has participated in 40+ International Conferences and National Conferences. She published 2 patents and also serving as a reviewer of a few International Journals.

Dr. Vaisakh Sasidharan

Dr. Vaisakh Sasidharan is working as an Assistant Professor of Aerospace Engineering at JAIN (Deemed-to-be University). He has completed his B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering from T.K.M. College of Engineering, and he has received M.S. and Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-Madras). He is a recipient of the DST/SERB National Post-Doctoral Fellowship (2020-2022). As a Post-Doctoral Researcher, he worked for three years in the Department of Aerospace Engineering, Indian Institute of Science.

His areas of research are fluid mechanics and experimental methods relevant to low- and high-speed aerodynamics/propulsion.

Dr. Shrishail B Sollapur

Dr. Shrishail B Sollapur is working as Assistant Professor at Department of Aerospace Engineering in JAIN (Deemed to be University). He has 14+ years of teaching and industrial experience and has published a number of papers in several journals, several patents. He has also presented his work in several National and International Conferences.

His areas of research are Mechatronics, Finite Element Method, Control Engineering and Machine Design. He is a life time member of ISTE and IAENG Society of Mechanical Engineering.

Prof. Dheeraj Kumar Gara

Prof. Dheeraj Kumar Gara is working as Assistant Professor in Department of Aerospace Engineering at JAIN (Deemed-to-be University). He has completed his B.Tech. and M.Tech. in Aeronautical Engineering. Currently he is pursuing his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from NIT Warangal. He has 10+ years of experience in teaching, research, and entrepreneurship.

He has published 30+ SCI articles in various reputed journals and serving as the reviewer for various SCI journals and various boards such as Technology Development Fund, DST. He is the life member of Indian physics association, Indian science congress association, Society of Experimental mechanics.

His area of expertise includes FGM’s, Entropy Graded Materials, MD simulations, Shape Memory Alloys, Glass science, Additive manufacturing, polymer science, nanomaterials and bone tissue engineering. He has guided 21+ projects at institute level and has completed 3 sponsored research projects. He is serving as an innovation ambassador under MoEd, GOI and has trained 5 entrepreneurs for successful start-ups.
