The department of mechanical engineering provides quality and socially relevant engineering education at the undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels. The department faculties and students were interested in research projects of social and industrial significance. Faculty and students are interested in developing new technologies and skills across the variety of technically challenging fields in mechanical engineering as well as other scientific disciplines.

The Department has state of art laboratory facilities to give wide exposure to the students for practical knowledge and hands on experience and also to cater the research needs of students and faculty members. The department has well trained Lab instructors to impart practical knowledge to students. The department also houses Centre of excellence for Automobile Engineering ( A joint venture of Toyota and JAIN).
