Dr. Adarsha H

Professor & HOD

Dr.Adarsha H , received his Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering (2006), Post-Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the prestigious University Of Michigan in Mechanical Engineering (2007) and PhD in Mechanical Engineering (2015) from Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum. He is currently working at the department of Mechanical Engineering, JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) as Professor & Head for the last eight years.

His areas of interests include light weight metal alloys & composites, additive manufacturing & automotive powertrains.

Achievements / Recognitions:

• Published over 70 Research papers in peer reviewed international Journals and conferences (H-Index:11and Citations: 400+). Published 3 Books & 8 book chapters and has filed 18 Indian patents in many areas.
• Recipient of “YOUNG ACHEIVER AWARD-2017” for his contributions to research & academics from JAIN (Deemed-to-be University).
• Recipient of “Young Researcher award - 2019” in Mechanical Engineering from Venus International Foundation, Chennai.
• Recipient of “Adarsha Vidya Prathiba Puraskar Award” -2019 from Glacier Research foundation, Ahmedabad, INDIA.
• Recognized as reviewer for more than 25 prestigious International Journals in the field of Thermal Spray Coatings, Metal Matrix Composites, 3D Printing Technology and Non-Traditional Machining.
• He has successfully completed two Research Projects funded by AICTE & ISRO. Currently, he has ongoing infrastructure up liftment projects funded by AICTE, of worth rupees 15 Lakhs.
• He also bags the credit of setting up of Centre of Excellence from Toyota in JAIN (Deemed-to-be University).
• Under his guidance Four PhD’s have been awarded and 6 scholars are pursuing PhD.

Dr. Venkadeshwaran K

Associate Professor

Dr. Venkadeshwaran K works as Deputy Dean – Academics at the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, and Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering in JAIN (Deemed-to-be University). He has over 20 years of experience in teaching and 4 years of research experience as a Senior Research Fellow in the School of Laser Science and Engineering, Jadavpur University, Kolkata. He worked as a senior research fellow at the School of Laser Science and Engineering, Jadavpur University, Kolkata, under a state government departmental fellowship. Dr. Venkadeshwaran K obtained his doctorate from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, West Bengal 2012. He completed his post-graduation from Kumaraguru College of Technology, Coimbatore, 2002 and pursued graduation from Government College of Engineering, Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, in 2001. His research interests include Additive Manufacturing, Laser Processing, Renewable Energy Systems, and Sensor Technology. He has made notable contributions in areas such as pressure sensing through photonic crystals, laser cladding on stainless steel alloys, Laser structuring and modelling of Laser transmission welding. He had obtained funded projects from government organisations like DST- SERB and VGST, Karnataka, for projects related to laser forming and PCM-based solar dryer for a total worth of around 80 lakh Dr. Venkadeshwaran is recognised as an experienced educator with a strong background in research and development, particularly in laser technology, renewable energy systems, and advanced manufacturing processes.

Dr. S Shashi Kumar

Associate Professor

Dr. S. SHASHI KUMAR, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) (Faculty of Engineering & Technology) located at Kanakapura Campus. He has obtained Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering with specialization in Welding Technology from PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore in the year 2018 & Master’s degree in Heat Power Engineering from Coimbatore Institute of Technology, Coimbatore in the year 2009, (Institutions affiliated to ANNA University, Chennai). He received the Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from B.M.S College of Engineering, Bangalore (affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University) in the year 2004.

Dr. Shashi Kumar has 14 years of experience in teaching and research. His area of interest includes Friction Stir Welding, Friction Stir Processing, Friction Surfacing, Laser beam welding and Stir casting. He is currently working in the area of wire arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) and Metallic Foams. He has been guiding 4 Ph.D. Scholars under his supervision.

Being a Researcher, he has worked as Research Associate for a DRDO funded project for two years for the sanctioned project worth of Rs.18.66 Lakhs. The major outcomes of his research was well appreciated by the Directorate of Extramural Research & Intellectual Property Right (ER&IPR) agency. To his credit, he has published 19 technical research articles in leading SCI International Journals, presented 18 technical papers in the national and international level of conference events. He has filed one Indian Patent and also published a book in the International publication titled" An insight into Friction Stir Welding of AISI 316L Austentic Stainless steel". He serves as reviewer for leading Elsevier and Springer International Journals. He is a member of institution of engineers (M.I.E.) and has been an active member in the organization of workshops, seminars and conferences at the university level.

Dr. Ashutosh Pattanaik

Associate Professor

Dr Pattanaik is a dedicated professional with a proper blend of research and learning capability, passionate in sharing knowledge to motivate the aspirants. He completed his B. Tech in Mechanical in 2009, MTech in Manufacturing Processes & System in 2011 and then went for higher study to National Institute of Technology, Rourkela. He completed his PhD in 2017 and started his professional career as an Assistant Professor in JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), Bengaluru, India and still continuing. His research interest includes Composite material, Powder Metallurgy, Polymer characterisation, Production metallurgy of steel, Metal Casting, Welding Technology. In short, he is focussed towards materials and manufacturing. He has already published 2 international books, 35 international journal which include some high impact factor journals also. He has filed four patents in the field of manufacturing and currently handling a consultancy project. Currently, he is the Editor of 2 journal and reviewer of some good journals from Elsevier, Inder-science & SAGE international.

Prof P S Raghavendra Rao

Prof Raghavendra Rao P S is working as Assistant professor at Department of Mechanical Engineering in JAIN (Deemed-to-be University). He has pursued her B.E. Degree from MCE Hassana and M.E. Degree (Production Technology) from BEC, Bagalakote. He has pursuing Ph.D. He has 21 years of experience in teaching, and he has published 6 research articles, 4 book chapters in various Elsevier and springer publications. He was also invited as key note speaker to sessions, areas of interest are Cryogenic machining.

Dr. Arunkumar D T

Dr Arunkumar D.T completed is B.E in Mechanical, M. Tech in Maintenance Engineering and Ph. D in Material Science and Metallurgy in Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi, Karnataka, India. He is currently working as Assistant professor in Mechanical department, Faculty of Engineering Technology, JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), Bengaluru, India. He is having 13 years of teaching/research experience and 2 years of industry experience. His research areas are Machining, Composite materials and Materials Science and Metallurgy. He has Published 19 International journal papers with good impact factors, and also published one Book and 4 book chapters. Along with this he is having two patents in the field of manufacturing.

Dr. Nagaraj Patil

Dr. Nagraj Patil is working as Associate professor at Department of Mechanical Engineering in JAIN (Deemed-to-be University). He has pursued her B.E. Degree from GNDCE College of Engineering bidar, and M.Tech. Degree (Machine design) from NCET Bangalore. He has completed his Ph.D. work in 2022 under VTU Belagavi. He has 12 years of experience in teaching, and he has published 11 research articles, 4 book chapters in various Elsevier and springer publications. He was also invited as key note speaker to sessions, areas of interest are Cryogenic machining.

Dr. Ranganatha Swamy M K

Dr Ranganatha Swamy MK is working as a Associate Professor at Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Jain Deemed to be University, Bangalore.

Dr.Ranganatha Swamy M.K. received B.E degree in Mechanical Engineering at University Visveswaraya College of Engineering from Bangalore University and M.Tech degree in Manufacturing science and engineering, at Siddaganga Institute of Technology from Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum. He has completed his PhD in the area of Shape Memory Materials from Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum.

He has about 14 years of teaching experience and 3years of industry experience at SKF Technologies India Pvt Ltd. He has published 16 research publications in International Journal, published 8 National patents,authored 2 book chapters and attended 10 National and 10 International conferences. He has obtained a lifetime membership in Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) and Associate Member of Institute of Engineers (AMIE), member of Institute for Engineering Research and Publication (IFERP), member of International society for Research & Development (ISRD). He is a reviewer of Polymer International Journals (Wiley publications), MAT Journals, IJMECH Journals, Materials today.His research interests include Smart Materials, Mechatronics & Robotictics and Advanced Manufacturing Techniques.

Prof. Sandeep V

Prof. Sandeep V, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), is a seasoned professional with over 9 years of diverse experience in both industry and academia. A passionate researcher, educator, and mentor, Prof. Sandeep V excels in the cutting-edge fields of Composite Materials and Ultrasonic Welding. He has already published two insightful research articles that reflect his expertise. Prof. Sandeep V holds a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from KVGCE, Sullia (VTU) and an M.Tech. in Manufacturing Science and Engineering from GCE, Ramanagara (VTU). Currently, he is pushing the boundaries of innovation as he pursues a Ph.D. in Ultrasonic Welding at JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), India.

Prof. Kaushik V Prasad

Assistant Professor

Dr Kaushik V Prasad, is an Assistant Professor working in the Department of Mechanical Engineering since 2016. He completed his PhD from Jain (Deemed to be University) in 2023. He completed his M.Tech Degree from R V College of Engineering Bengaluru with specialization in Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM). His research area includes Surface Coatings and Composite Materials. He has published around 20 papers in Journals of international repute. He has taught several courses like CAD/CAM, Heat & Mass Transfer, Thermodynamics and Manufacturing Process to the Undergrdauate students.

Prof Vinod M

Assistant Professor

Prof. Vinod is currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Engineering and Technology at JAIN (Deemed-to-be University). He holds a Master's degree in Machine Design Stream and an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi. Currently, he is pursuing his Ph.D. from VTU in the field of composite materials. With 6+ years of teaching experience, Prof. Vinod has demonstrated his dedication and expertise in imparting knowledge to students. His research interests lie in the fields of Polymer Composites, Fiber Metal Laminates, Tribology, Product Design, and Strength of Materials, where he aims to contribute to advancements in these areas. In terms of research output, Prof. Vinod has published 10 papers in international journals and presented 4 papers at conferences. These publications reflect his commitment to sharing his research findings and contributing to the academic community.

Prof. Deepak J

Dr. Deepak J is working in mechanical engineering departmentJAIN (Deemed-to-be University) for last 5 years. He has completed PhD in JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) in the area of Additive manufacturing. He has completed Masters in Thermal Engineering from JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) and B.E in Mechanical Engineering from Bangalore Institute of Technology. His area of research is materials and manufacturing and he has published 11 Scopus technical papers and 4 book chapters and also presented 2 papers in National and International Conference. Dr. I Kantharaj

Dr. I. Kantharaj serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at JAIN (Deemed-to-be University). With over 17 years of experience spanning industry and Academia, he is a distinguished researcher, educator and mentor. Dr. Kantharaj specializes in New Product Development, Sustainable Manufacturing, and innovative Heat Pipe Embedded Machining techniques. His expertise extends to crafting and publishing patents and research articles, with 16 publications in SCI/Scopus Indexed journals. He holds 14 Indian patents for novel products. Widely recognized, he has delivered keynote addresses at numerous national and international conferences and chaired various prestigious events. Dr. Kantharaj earned his B.E. in Production Engineering from Karunya Institute of Technology, Coimbatore, under Bharathiar University, Coimbatore and M.E. in CAD/CAM from Mepco Schlenk Engineering College, Sivakasi, under Anna University, Chennai. He completed his Ph.D. in Sustainable Machining from Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, Coimbatore, India.

Dr. Roshita David

Dr. Roshita David is working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical/Civil Engineering at JAIN (Deemed-to-be University). She completed her Mechanical Engineering degree at Christian College of Engineering & Technology, Bhilai, in 2013, and earned her PhD in Materials Science and Technology from AcSIR-AMPRI, Bhopal, in 2020. Her area of research includes synthesis and characterisation of materials (alloys and composites).

Dr. Shrishail Basaprabhu Sollapur

Dr. Shrishail B Sollapur is working as Assistant Professor at Department of Mechanical Engineering in JAIN (Deemed to be University). He has 14+ years of teaching and industrial experience and has published a more 30+ number of papers in several International and National journals, several patents. He has also presented his work in several National and International Conferences. His areas of research are Mechatronics, Finite Element Method, Control Engineering and Machine Design. Dr. Manjunath Channappagoudra

Dr. Sunil Kumar M

Assistant Professor

Dr. Sunil Kumar M is an Assistant Professor at Jain (Deemed-to-be University), Bengaluru, India. He holds a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Saveetha Engineering College (Anna University, Chennai, 2018), an M.E. in Thermal Engineering from Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology (2020), and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Anna University (2023). Notable academic achievements include securing the 38th University Rank from Anna University and the Best Student Award from Saveetha Engineering College during his undergraduate studies, and the 1st University Rank from Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology in his master’s program. Dr Sunil gained two years of research experience as a Junior Research Fellow at Sri Sivasubramaniya Nadar College of Engineering, Chennai, before starting his professional career at JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) in 2024. His research focuses on hydrogen fuel cells, IC engine emissions, after-treatment devices, thermal energy storage, and alternative fuels. Dr. Sunil has published 23 papers in international journals, filed two patents, and submitted three research projects related to hydrogen fuel.

Dr. Subramani P

Dr. Subramani P. is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Engineering and Technology JAIN (Deemed to be University). He holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Vellore Institute of Technology and completed his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from J. J. College of Engineering and Technology and Pondicherry University.

His research contributions are evident in 24 published papers in esteemed international journals. Dr. Subramani has actively participated in national and international conferences, workshops, and FDPs, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange with researchers worldwide.

With industrial experience at Kraftwork Solar Pvt. Ltd, Cochin, he applied his engineering knowledge in a practical setting. Dr Subramani's dedication to advancing knowledge in his field is reflected in his academic pursuits and research.

Dr. Bhaskar Dixit C S

Professor

Dr. Bhaskar Dixit C S is a Professor at the Faculty of Engineering and Technology and the Director of the Fire and Combustion Research Center JAIN (Deemed-to-be University). He has 30 years of teaching experience with multiple research and development projects in aeronautical and mechanical engineering.

Dr. Bhaskar Dixit C S is a mechanical engineering graduate with a doctorate in Aerospace Engineering in the area of Combustion in Biomass Stoves, which was completed in 2003, along with an additional year of postdoctoral research experience from the Indian Institute of Science. He is involved in computational and experimental research in fire and Combustion. He has filed four patents and has over 10 publications in biomass and bioenergy, fire retardants, roofing systems, pool fires, wood panel fire tests and many more.
