JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) Hosts Escape Room Challenge 2025 - A Fusion of Learning and Innovation

Bengaluru, 11 September 2025: JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), Faculty of Engineering and Technology, successfully hosted the Escape Room Challenge 2025 at its Global Campus, Jakkasandra Post, Kanakapura Taluk. Organised by the Foss Club of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (Software Engineering), the event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 216 students, with 240 registered.

The one-day experiential challenge combined problem-solving, logical reasoning, coding, cryptography, and teamwork in an engaging gamified format inspired by the global trend of escape rooms. Students competed in teams across four uniquely designed “Escape Rooms” featuring cybersecurity tasks, riddles, cipher puzzles, bomb defusal, and coding challenges, applying classroom knowledge to high-pressure scenarios.

The event was inaugurated in the presence of eminent dignitaries, including Dr. Venkadeshwaran, Deputy Dean (Academics); Prof. (Dr.) Kamlesh Tiwari, Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering; Dr. Deepak Sinha, Deputy Director (Industry Relations); Dr. Beemkumar, Deputy Dean (Research); and Dr. Benakaprasad, Deputy Dean (Student Affairs). A virtual lamp-lighting ceremony marked the symbolic beginning of the event, underscoring the enlightenment that stems from collaborative learning.

Speaking at the inauguration, Prof. (Dr.) Kamlesh Tiwari stated: “The Escape Room Challenge demonstrates how academic rigour and innovation can intersect to create meaningful learning experiences. By integrating technical knowledge with creative problem-solving, our students not only strengthen their subject expertise but also build resilience, adaptability, and teamwork.”

The competition concluded with Team CP securing first place, followed by Team 3rd Floor as first runner-up and Team Cosmic Wave as second runner-up. Certificates of appreciation were awarded to the winners, with organisers noting the high level of creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration displayed throughout.

The challenge left a lasting impact on participants by bridging theory and practice through gamified learning. Students reported that the event helped them enhance decision-making under pressure, improve teamwork, and develop practical skills relevant to real-world applications such as cybersecurity and competitive programming.
