FET Marks 79th Independence Day at JAIN Global Campus

Bengaluru, 15th August 2026: At quarter to eight in the morning, before the flag had gone up, students and staff at the Faculty of Engineering and Technology gathered at the JAIN Global Campus amphitheatre for a pooja dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi. It was a small, quiet start to the university's 79th Independence Day celebration, organised by the NSS Wing and Student Affairs at FET.

Dr Venkadeswaran K, Deputy Dean of Academics, hoisted the tricolour once the pooja was done, and the gathering sang the national anthem together as it went up.

Two addresses followed. Dr Benaka Prasad S B, Deputy Dean of Student Affairs, spoke about responsible citizenship, telling students that being a good citizen means acting on it day to day, not just marking the occasion once a year. Dr Venkadeswaran K spoke next, paying tribute to the freedom fighters who won the country its independence and asking students to remember them beyond the holiday itself.

The programme wrapped up with a vote of thanks, and sweets were handed out to everyone present before the campus moved on to its usual Saturday. What stood out was not any single part of the morning but the order of it: a prayer first, then the ceremony everyone was there for.
