Bengaluru, 28 January 2026: As part of its experiential learning initiatives, the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, JAIN (Deemed-to-be-University), organised an Industrial Visit to the 220kV Substation at Jakkasandra, Kanakapura Taluk, on 28 January 2026. The visit provided students with valuable practical exposure to high-voltage substation operations, power distribution systems, and essential safety protocols, underscoring the significance of reliable and sustainable electricity infrastructure.
The programme was coordinated by Dr. Raghu N and Dr. Hannah Jesi Rani, with the objective of bridging theoretical knowledge and real-world industrial practice. Students were given the opportunity to closely observe critical substation components and operations, including transformers, circuit breakers, control panels, monitoring systems, automation processes, and grid management techniques. Emphasis was placed on safety measures, operational efficiency, and sustainable power system practices.
Expert-led sessions, live demonstrations, and interactive discussions enabled students to understand the technical, economic, and social dimensions of power system management. Participants actively engaged by observing operations, asking questions, and reflecting on the role of substations in ensuring uninterrupted power supply and supporting industrial and community development. Faculty members further facilitated reflective discussions, linking the visit to core concepts in electrical engineering and power systems.
The response from students was highly positive, with participants acknowledging the value of hands-on industrial exposure in enhancing their understanding of high-voltage infrastructure and operational workflows. The visit reinforced the importance of professionalism, safety, innovation, and sustainability in modern industry, contributing to the holistic professional development of students.
The Industrial Visit to the 220kV Substation - 2026 successfully exemplified JAIN (Deemed-to-be University)’s commitment to experiential learning, industry engagement, and sustainable education.
