Bengaluru, 10th March 2026: First-year students from the Departments of Mechanical Engineering and Aerospace Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET), JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), participated in an industrial visit to the Satish Dhawan Space Centre on 10th March 2026. The visit formed part of the institution’s experiential learning initiatives aimed at familiarising students with real-world engineering environments and large-scale technological infrastructure.
The facility, which serves as the primary launch centre of the Indian Space Research Organisation, plays a central role in India’s satellite launch missions and space exploration programmes. During the visit, students were introduced to the operational framework of the space centre and its role in supporting national and international launch missions.
Participants received an overview of the processes involved in launch vehicle preparation, satellite integration, and mission control operations. The briefing sessions also covered key infrastructure that supports launch activities, including launch pads, vehicle assembly buildings, tracking systems, and the safety procedures followed during launch missions. Through these discussions, students gained a clearer understanding of how theoretical engineering principles are applied in complex aerospace systems and large-scale space operations.
Officials and technical experts at the facility provided explanations on various stages of mission preparation and launch readiness. The interactions enabled students to observe how multidisciplinary engineering fields including mechanical systems, structural design, propulsion technologies, and control systems converge within a modern space launch programme.
The visit was accompanied by faculty members Prof. Sagar K. G., Dr Kiran, Dr Kanu Priya, and Dr Venkateshwarulu, who guided the students throughout the programme and facilitated discussions linking academic coursework with the technical insights shared during the visit. The initiative was conducted with the support of Dr Benaka Prasad S. B., Deputy Dean – Student Affairs, FET.
Industrial visits such as this form an important component of the academic approach at the Faculty of Engineering and Technology at JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), enabling students to observe advanced engineering practices and gain early exposure to India’s evolving space and technology ecosystem.
