The Department of Food Technology (DFT), Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET), Jain (Deemed-to-be University), in association with the School of Sports Education and Research (SSER), organised a 5-Day Skill Development Program (SDP) titled “Transformative Professional Competencies for Industry 4.0 Excellence.” The program aimed to bring together academicians, industry experts, faculty, and students to discuss competencies needed for the Industry 4.0 era.
The program ran for five days and was inaugurated by Shri Ravindra Bhandary, Vice President of Jain (Deemed-to-be University). In his remarks, he encouraged participants to continuously upskill to stay relevant amid rapid industrial change. The organisers thanked the University Management, Chancellor Dr Chenraj Roychand, and the leadership team for their support.
The program included expert talks, interactive sessions, and practical discussions on leadership competencies, professional skills, and behavioural development. Industry 4.0 readiness and holistic professional growth were also discussed in the program. Speakers representing organisations such as Mondelez International, Marico, Bühler Group, The University of Trans-Disciplinary Health Sciences and Technology, Institute of Business Administration, and CMS Business School were present. Professionals and consultants associated with Biocon and AB InBev India also contributed. The program included sessions by sports professionals and psychology experts on 16PF personality profiling, adding insights into behavioural assessment and leadership.
The event combined keynote addresses, panel discussions, and interactive modules that emphasised practical insights and mentorship. A consistent highlight was the willingness of experts to share knowledge and experiences with students, creating an engaging and supportive atmosphere. The organising team acknowledged guidance from Director Dr UV Sankar, Dr Mathews Raj (Head, SSER), deputy directors, deputy deans, department heads, and faculty members. Special appreciation was given to Co-Convener Professor of Practice Monika Anand, and coordinators Dr Pooja Jha and Dr Gautam Deshpande, along with faculty, non-teaching staff, student coordinators, volunteers, and the FET Facilities Team.
The SDP concluded with active participation from students, faculty, and professionals, underscoring the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration, lifelong learning, and transformative competencies for future-ready graduates.
