Palm Vein Innovation Takes Top Honour at National IPR Conclave

Palm Vein Innovation Takes Top Honour at National IPR Conclave

Bengaluru, 16th April 2026: Standing out in a competitive field of over 85 teams from across India, a student team secured first place at AIKYAM 2026, a national-level Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) conclave hosted by RV Institute of Technology and Management (RVITM). The recognition came for their project, Palm IQ: Secure Biometric Payment & Health System, noted for its practical relevance and strong patent potential.

Conceived as a platform to advance innovation and intellectual property awareness, AIKYAM 2026 brought together students, researchers, and industry observers in a focused, high-energy environment. The event was structured into specialised tracks, including “Patent Pathways,” where solutions were evaluated not only for creativity but also for their viability as protected, market-ready innovations.

Presented in this track, the winning project explored a contactless biometric ecosystem built on palm vein recognition technology. The system integrates secure payment functionality with real-time health monitoring, tracking key indicators such as heart rate, oxygen saturation, and temperature. With added layers of AI-driven analysis and encrypted data management, the solution reflects a convergence of healthcare and financial technology in response to evolving user needs.

The team included Himashwetha AU, a sixth-semester Aerospace Engineering student, whose contribution highlighted the interdisciplinary nature of the project. Their work drew attention for addressing two critical areas: data security and personal health within a single, scalable framework.

Throughout the conclave, participants engaged with evaluators and peers, gaining insight into patent development, product positioning, and real-world applicability. The judging criteria centred on innovation, feasibility, and commercial potential challenged teams to think beyond prototypes and towards implementation.

This achievement underscores the growing role of IPR-focused platforms in shaping future-ready graduates. By encouraging students to align technical ingenuity with intellectual property awareness, initiatives such as AIKYAM enable a more informed and application-driven approach to innovation.

For the winning team, the recognition marks not just a competitive victory, but a meaningful step towards translating ideas into impactful, protected solutions.
