An Intriguing Webinar to Discuss the Strength of Correct Masking and Covid-19 Vaccination

The National Service Scheme Cell, Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET), JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), in association with Bangalore Society of Obstetrics & Gynaecology organized a national level webinar titled “Awareness about Correct Masking and Vaccination against Covid-19” on May 16, 2021. The webinar was attended by 895 people that included students, research scholars, and faculty members across the nation.

The webinar aimed at highlighting the significance of the Covid-19 vaccination and correct mask usage. The Covid-19-related declarations in regards to masking and vaccination by the central government served as an important topic of discussion. The various members attending the webinar were provided a clear picture of their role and challenges during the ongoing pandemic. Furthermore, it was brought to notice that no vaccine is 100% effective and how much gap should be there between the two dosages of the vaccine. The webinar highlighted how masks play the utmost crucial role in protecting people with a compromised immune system.

The keynote speaker for the event was Dr. Shanthala, a Bangalore-based renowned Obstetrician and Gynaecologist. Dr. Shanthala has over 25 years of experience as an OB-GYN in India and abroad. During her speech, Dr. Shanthala spoke about the correct way of using a mask and the significance of vaccination. She shared the preventive measures to remain safe against Covid-19. She also spoke about the recent rate of increase in Covid-19 cases. She highlighted the strength of the mask. She also provided a detailed overview of how Covid-19 vaccines are a total game-changer.

The program also included an informative and valuable speech by Dr. Rajani Jairam - Dean, Student Welfare, JAIN (Deemed-to-be-University). The speaker introduction and vote of thanks were given by Dr. Pradeepa P, HOD of EEE Department, and Dr. Balamurugan M, Assistant Professor, EEE Department respectively. Dr. Raghu. N - NSS Program Officer, JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), students, and staff members were also present during the event.

This event was a wonderful learning experience for all the NSS volunteers as it provided them the opportunity to understand their role and challenges during Covid-19. All the participants displayed great enthusiasm and participated actively in making the webinar an overall success.
