Bengaluru, 27th February 2026: The Faculty of Engineering and Technology, JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) inaugurated a Book Club on 27th February 2026 at the Aerospace Seminar Hall, marking the beginning of a new initiative aimed at encouraging reading habits and literary engagement among students and faculty members.
The programme brought together faculty members, students, and invited guest speaker Dr. Raisun Mathew, Assistant Professor at Chinmaya Vishwa VidyaPeeth, Kerala, to mark the launch of the club and highlight the role of literature in academic and personal development.
The event began with the reveal of the Book Club logo, presented by Sarayu and Harshitha, symbolising the identity and vision of the newly formed initiative. An invocation by the Music Team followed, setting the tone for the programme.
Welcoming the gathering, Mr. Wasim, Assistant Professor in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, spoke about the importance of cultivating reading habits among students and creating spaces for literary discussion within academic environments. The objectives and planned activities of the Book Club were introduced by Mr. Biddappa, Assistant Professor, who outlined how the club aims to provide a platform for students to explore literature, exchange ideas, and strengthen critical thinking.
A profile reading of the guest speaker was presented by Ms. Raveena, Assistant Professor, before the keynote lecture by Dr. Raisun Mathew. In his address, he reflected on the significance of reading in shaping intellectual curiosity, creativity, and analytical thinking among learners, encouraging students to engage with literature beyond academic requirements.
A Book Reveal segment followed, led by Dr. Ahmadi Begum, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, along with Ms. Sneha V. John, Assistant Professor, and Samarth, marking a key moment of the inauguration.
The programme also included a book review session presented by Mr. Anandhu Suresh Nair, Assistant Professor, along with Akshat and Vaishnavi, offering critical reflections on a selected text. A brief address by Ms. Monika Anand, Assistant Professor, highlighted the role of literature in personal and intellectual growth.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Gabriela, Assistant Professor, acknowledging the contributions of the guest speaker, faculty members, student volunteers, and organisers. The programme was anchored by Sarayu and Harshitha.
The inauguration of the Book Club marks a step towards building a vibrant reading culture within the university, encouraging students to engage with literature, ideas, and dialogue beyond the classroom.
