Bengaluru, 20 June 2026: The Office of Student Affairs and the NSS Wing, Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET), JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), observed the International Day of Yoga on 20 June 2026, bringing together students, faculty, and staff for a morning dedicated to health, mindfulness, and overall well-being. The initiative aimed to encourage participants to embrace yoga as a practical approach to maintaining physical fitness, mental clarity, and emotional resilience.
The programme was led by Dr. Srinivas M, Assistant Professor, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, alongside Mr. Kiran, Yoga Instructor, and Mr. Kishore, Yoga Demonstrator. Through a carefully structured session, participants were introduced to warm-up exercises before progressing to yoga asanas, pranayama, and guided meditation. The sequence was designed to demonstrate how simple yet consistent practices can contribute to improved concentration, stress management, flexibility, and overall wellness.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the university community, with 166 participants, including 106 students and 60 faculty and staff members, engaging actively in the session. The collective participation reflected a growing awareness of the importance of integrating wellness practices into academic and professional life.
Senior university officials, including Dr. Benaka Prasad S B, Deputy Dean - Student Affairs; Dr. Deepak Sinha, Deputy Director - Industry & Student Relations; Dr. Venkadeshwaran K, Deputy Dean - Academics; and Dr. Beem Kumar N, Deputy Dean - Research, were present at the event, reaffirming the institution's commitment to fostering a healthy and balanced campus environment.
Beyond the physical practice of yoga, the programme served as a reminder of its broader significance in cultivating mindfulness, self-discipline, and resilience. By encouraging participants to adopt yoga as a part of their daily routine, the celebration reinforced the role of higher education institutions in promoting holistic development alongside academic excellence. The observance reflected a shared commitment to creating a campus culture where well-being, personal growth, and lifelong healthy habits remain integral to the student experience.
