Byte Battle 2026 Engages First-Year Students in AI Challenges

Bengaluru, 26th February 2026: The Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), under the Program in Computer Science & Business Systems, conducted Byte Battle 2026 on 26th February 2026. The event, focused on Artificial Intelligence (AI), saw enthusiastic participation from 40 first-year undergraduate students.

The competition was structured into three rounds, each testing different dimensions of AI knowledge and practical skills. The first round, a Quiz on AI Concepts, assessed participants’ understanding of fundamentals such as machine learning basics, neural networks, real-world AI applications, and emerging trends. The top ten performers from this round progressed to the second stage.

The second round focused on Prompt Engineering, requiring participants to craft precise prompts for AI systems to generate accurate and optimised outputs. This stage evaluated creativity, logical structuring, and technical understanding. The five participants who excelled here advanced to the final round.

The third round, Debugging with AI, challenged participants to identify and correct coding or logic errors using AI tools. Analytical thinking, speed, and accuracy determined the winners, with the fastest three completing the tasks successfully.

The event was attended by Deputy Director Dr. Deepak Sinha (Industry & Training), Deputy Dean (Academics) Dr. Venkadeshwaran, Head of Department Dr. Kamalesh Tiwari, Program Head Dr. P.T. Sivasankar, Event Coordinator Prof. Aishwarya, and Club Coordinator Dr. C. Mahiba. They encouraged participants throughout the competition and presented the prizes to the winners.

The top performers in Byte Battle 2026 were Edaanya Dubey (First Prize), Anany Mangal (Second Prize), and Akanksha Poovaiah Machamada (Third Prize), all from the I-CSBS programme.

Byte Battle 2026 provided students with hands-on engagement with emerging AI technologies, fostering technical curiosity, problem-solving skills, and a spirit of healthy competition, making it a memorable and impactful learning experience for all participants.
