JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), Faculty of Engineering and Technology, in association with Mindtree had organized campus engagement activities for all pre-final year students. The session on Innovation Mindset was held on 20th June 2022 from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
The guest speaker for the session was Ms. Vindya Vausini Sampath, Associate Director – Mindtree. She is a learning and development professional skilled in design thinking, learning delivery, facilitation, learning technologies, content development, instructional design, design research, coaching, and storytelling.
During the session, the speaker emphasized the importance of innovative thinking and the implementation of skills. She highlighted the main ingredients of an innovation mindset – openness to change, bias towards creativity, ability to think big, unrelenting courage to challenge the norm, and speed of thought and action.
The event was followed by a question-and-answer session. Dr. Ranjana Jain, Associate Director – Training and Placements, asked a few questions. Ms. Sampath explained how students can develop a mindset focused on innovation and learning, how students should focus on the workplace and cultivate innovative thinking, and develop as an individual.
The speaker concluded the session by stating that people with an innovative mindset are agile, creative, and open to trying new ideas, making mistakes, and trying again. Lastly, she also mentioned that by being innovative one can bring positive change and drive growth.
