Mumbai, 14th March 2026: The Department of Civil Engineering at Faculty of Engineering and Technology, JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) organised an industrial site visit for third-year Civil Engineering students to the L&T The Gateway Sewri Project in Mumbai on 14th March 2026. The visit provided students with direct exposure to high-rise construction practices and offered a practical complement to their classroom learning.
Developed by Larsen & Toubro, the project is a premium high-rise residential development implementing advanced construction techniques and modern project management practices. During the visit, students were introduced to the overall project layout, construction planning, and structural components involved in high-rise construction. Engineer Krupa, Project Engineer at Larsen & Toubro and a JAIN alumnus, guided the students, explaining foundation systems, reinforcement detailing, formwork techniques, and the use of tower cranes and other construction equipment.
Students observed various on-site activities, including structural works, material handling procedures, and safety protocols. The interaction with project engineers helped them understand quality control measures, construction safety standards, and the operational aspects of managing a large-scale infrastructure project.
The Department of Civil Engineering expressed gratitude to Larsen & Toubro for facilitating the visit and providing valuable technical insights. The industrial exposure is intended to strengthen students’ understanding of practical construction techniques and professional engineering practices, fostering readiness for careers in civil engineering.
