Bengaluru, 19 January 2026: The Faculty of Engineering and Technology at JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) inaugurated its Electric Vehicle (EV) Design Lab on 19 January 2026 at the Core Block, marking a significant step towards strengthening education, research, and hands-on training in electric mobility and sustainable transportation technologies. The facility was inaugurated in the presence of senior university leadership, faculty members, and students.
Established by the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE), the Electric Vehicle Design Lab has been created to provide a dedicated platform for experiential learning, applied research, and innovation in electric vehicle technologies. The lab is designed to support practical understanding of EV systems, including power electronics, battery management systems, and electric drive technologies, while encouraging interdisciplinary and industry-relevant skill development.
The inauguration ceremony was presided over by Mr. Ravindra Bhandari, Vice President, JAIN Group who served as the Chief Guest. The event was also attended by the Assistant Director, Deputy Dean – Academics, Deputy Dean – Student Affairs, and Heads of Departments from core engineering and Computer Science specialisations, underscoring the institution’s collaborative academic approach.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. V. Pushparajesh, Program Head, EEE, presented an overview of the lab’s infrastructure, facilities, and intended applications. He highlighted how the lab will bridge theoretical instruction with real-world engineering practice, enabling students to work on contemporary EV challenges and research-driven projects.
The event was coordinated by the faculty and staff of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering under the leadership of Dr. Vasudha Hegde, Head of the Department, EEE. Faculty members, students, and academic administrators participated actively, reflecting strong institutional engagement with emerging mobility technologies.
The inauguration of the Electric Vehicle Design Lab reinforces JAIN (Deemed-to-be University)’s commitment to future-ready engineering education aligned with global sustainability goals.
