Bengaluru, 26th April 2026: Four students from the Faculty of Engineering and Technology at JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) have earned international recognition after securing a Silver Award at the Startup Innovation Weekend (SIW) 2026, held from 24th to 26th April in Phnom Penh, Kingdom of Cambodia.
Representing the institution among more than 30 projects from over 25 countries, the team Shanthan T, Pranavi A, Aditya B N and Aniruddh V N presented a start-up developed under the mentorship of Dr Garima Sinha. Their journey at SIW reflected a shift from academic exploration to applied innovation, where ideas were tested against global standards and real-world expectations.
Organised by the International Creativity and Innovation Award (ICIA) in collaboration with Startup Innovation Weekend, the event brought together early-stage ventures and established start-ups from across regions including Southeast Asia, Europe and Latin America. Over three days, participants engaged in pitch sessions, product demonstrations and high-impact networking, gaining exposure to diverse entrepreneurial approaches and market realities.
For the JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) team, the experience extended beyond competition. Through interactions with mentors and industry experts, they refined their business model, strengthened their value proposition, and adapted their pitch to resonate with an international audience. Feedback received during the sessions played a crucial role in shaping both their product strategy and long-term vision.
The Silver Award stands as recognition of the team’s innovative approach and the practical relevance of their solution. Equally significant were the intangible outcomes: improved communication skills, enhanced critical thinking, and a deeper understanding of global startup ecosystems. Engagements with peers and professionals also opened avenues for potential collaborations and future investment discussions.
Reflecting a broader commitment to experiential learning, the achievement highlights how engineering education at JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) is increasingly aligned with industry and entrepreneurship. Participation in platforms like SIW equips students with the confidence and competence to navigate complex, competitive environments preparing them not just to enter the workforce, but to shape it.
