The School of Computer Science and Engineering at JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) hosted an insightful Expert Talk at the Technology Future Summit on 29th January 2025, featuring the renowned Dr Richard Stallman, founder of the GNU Project and the Free Software Foundation (FSF). Addressing B.Tech CSE 2nd and 3rd-year students, faculty, and research scholars, Dr Stallman spoke about the importance of free software, emphasizing users' rights to use, study, modify, and share software. He highlighted his contributions, including the GNU Compiler Collection (GCC), GNU Emacs, and the GNU General Public License (GPL), while discussing the principles of copyleft and the impact of open-source technology on the industry.

The session was highly interactive, with Dr. Stallman answering questions from the audience and providing practical insights into GNU, software freedom, and ethical computing. Dr. Geetha G., Director, SCSE, presided over the event, with Dr. Deepak K. Sinha delivering the vote of thanks.
