Bengaluru, 12 December 2025: The Department of Food Technology, JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), that has been recently relocated to JNV Campus, Bengaluru, formally inaugurated the FICSI – Food Sector Skill Council (Food SSC) Industry Readiness Training Programme, a nine-day certification-oriented initiative scheduled from 12 to 22 December 2025, aimed at strengthening industry preparedness and employability among students.

The programme has been conceptualised as an intensive, hands-on training platform to bridge the gap between academic learning and professional practice in the food processing and allied industries. The inauguration was graced by Dr Deepak K. Sinha, Deputy Director (Industry Interface & Training), FET Campus, JGI, along with senior representatives from FICSI – Food SSC, including Dr Alok Dhar Dubey, Mr Mayank Chitra, and Mr Faiz Ahmed.

The training curriculum encompasses a comprehensive range of industry-relevant modules such as Food Safety and Quality Management Systems, HACCP, FoSTaC, Internal Auditing, Allergen Management, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Hygiene Practices (GHP), and ISO 22000, among other allied topics. Sessions are delivered through expert-led lectures, interactive discussions, and practical insights, enabling participants to gain a robust understanding of real-world regulatory frameworks and operational standards followed in the food industry.

Faculty members from the Department of Food Technology played a pivotal role in designing and executing the programme, ensuring active student engagement and effective knowledge transfer. The initiative was led under the guidance of Dr Rituja Upadhyay, Head – Food Technology, whose leadership and coordination were instrumental in shaping a structured and impactful learning experience for students.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Rituja Upadhyay stated, “The FICSI Industry Readiness Training Programme has been designed to align academic learning with current industry expectations. Such certification-based initiatives are crucial in equipping our students with practical competencies, professional confidence, and a clear understanding of food safety and quality standards required by the industry.”

The programme underscores JAIN (Deemed-to-be University)’s continued commitment to industry-integrated education and skill development, reaffirming its focus on producing industry-ready graduates capable of meeting contemporary professional demands. The University also expressed its intent to strengthen collaborations with FICSI – Food SSC and to organise similar certification-based programmes in the future to enrich student learning and career readiness.
