Global Opportunities and Mentorship Focus as FET Celebrates Alumni Connect 2026

Bengaluru, 7th February 2026: Moving beyond traditional networking, the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) launched its Alumni Connect 2026 (Series 1) at the campus seminar hall. The initiative, which brought together former students graduating between 2008 and 2025, aimed to bridge the gap between academic learning and shifting international market trends through structured professional mentorship.

The event commenced with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony and a welcome address by Dr Garima Sinha, FET Alumni Head, who emphasised the role of a strong graduate network in driving institutional development.

Expanding Horizons in a Global Market

A central focus of the morning was the shifting landscape of global employment. Shri Ravindra Bhandari, Vice President at the JAIN Group, briefed attendees on the institution's recent milestones, including National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) status and National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) placements.

He detailed tactical expansions designed to boost graduate marketability, particularly highlighting specialized Japanese language programmes tailored to connect engineering students directly with career openings in Japan.

Strategic Industry Insights and Curricular Shift

The session involved 39 prominent alumni representing 15 distinct engineering disciplines, including Electronics and Communication, Computer Science, Data Science, and Aerospace Engineering. Currently working across diverse domains such as Artificial Intelligence, cybersecurity, embedded systems, and international finance including representation from Silicon Valley the returning graduates shared observations from the vanguard of technology.

Key discussions centered on improving transition pathways from the classroom to the workplace. The collaborative sessions yielded several actionable strategies:

  • Extended Industry Exposure: A proposal to adjust the academic structure to allow for year-long industry internships, giving students deeper project experience.
  • Targeted Incubator Support: Commitments from established alumni entrepreneurs to provide dedicated start-up guidance and mentorship for student ventures.
  • Global Referral Channels: The establishment of dedicated channels for student mentorship, direct job referrals, and strategic placement support.

Fostering Long-Term Collaboration

Following technical panels, the alumni returned to their respective departments to review upgraded infrastructure and discuss curriculum alignment with current Heads of Departments. The afternoon concluded with cultural activities, a formal felicitation ceremony recognizing professional milestones, and a valedictory address by Deputy Director Dr Deepak K Sinha.

By grounding future institutional strategy in the real-world experiences of its graduates, the event reinforced a self-sustaining cycle of mentorship, ensuring current engineering students remain competitive on a global scale.
