Hands-On Survey Instrument Workshop for Lab Instructor

Hands-On Survey Instrument Workshop for Lab Instructor

Bengaluru, 19 November 2025: The Atharva Club of the Civil Engineering Department organised a one-day Hands-on Survey Instrument Workshop for Lab Instructors to familiarise participants with the newly procured Total Station and Digital Theodolite. Conducted at the Survey Laboratory in the Core Engineering Block, the session featured Mr Rajkumar from P S Instruments, who introduced the key features, specifications, and operational relevance of the instruments. He emphasised the importance of accurate setup, calibration, and data configuration, laying a strong foundation for effective field use.

The workshop combined demonstrations with active participation, enabling instructors to understand essential procedures, such as mounting instruments, making temporary adjustments, recording survey readings, and extracting data efficiently. The hands-on segment allowed participants to operate the equipment independently, seek real-time clarification, and address operational challenges under expert guidance. Practical insights into maintenance, troubleshooting, and field readiness further strengthened the instructors' confidence and competence.

The workshop successfully achieved its objective of enhancing the technical skills of the lab instructors, equipping them with the ability to manage instrument setup, data collection, and data handling with precision. The interactive format not only strengthened their operational understanding but also prepared them to support students more effectively during practical sessions. The programme concluded with a note of appreciation to the resource person for facilitating an informative and skill-oriented learning experience.
