Bengaluru, 7th March 2026: The Department of Civil Engineering at Faculty of Engineering and Technology, JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) hosted an industry interaction session with professionals from Tata Consulting Engineers on 7th March 2026, providing students with insights into contemporary engineering practices and industry expectations.
The session was designed to strengthen collaboration between academia and industry while helping students understand how civil engineering concepts are applied in large-scale infrastructure projects. Experts from Tata Consulting Engineers shared professional experiences and perspectives on current developments shaping the sector.
During the interaction, the speakers discussed a range of topics relevant to emerging engineers, including evolving trends in infrastructure development, the technical and managerial challenges encountered in engineering projects, and the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration in modern construction environments. They also highlighted the competencies increasingly expected from civil engineering graduates, such as technical proficiency, problem-solving ability, adaptability, and effective communication.
Faculty members and students from the Department of Civil Engineering attended the session and engaged actively in discussions with the industry experts. The interaction provided students with an opportunity to understand professional expectations within the engineering sector and gain clarity on potential career pathways in infrastructure development and consulting.
Participants also explored how academic learning aligns with real-world engineering practices, particularly in areas such as project planning, design implementation, and site-level problem solving. The discussion emphasised the importance of continuous learning and professional development for engineers working in a rapidly evolving infrastructure landscape.
The interaction concluded with a question-and-answer session, during which students raised queries related to industry trends, career opportunities, and the skills required for professional growth in the civil engineering field.
By facilitating dialogue between students and practicing engineers, the session highlighted the value of industry engagement within engineering education. Such initiatives contribute to preparing students for professional environments while strengthening the connection between academic training and the practical demands of the civil engineering profession.
