International Alumni Webinar Inspires Civil Engineering Students with Global Career Insights

Bengaluru: The Department of Civil Engineering, JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), through its Atharva Club, hosted an International Alumni Webinar titled “From Classroom to Career Abroad: A Civil Engineer’s Transformation into a Product Engineer in Japan” on 12 October 2025. Conducted online, the session attracted 65 registrations with 54 active participants, offering students a unique opportunity to interact with an accomplished alumna now thriving in an international professional environment.

The distinguished resource person, Ms. Neha Chaudhary, Product Design Engineer at Pica Corporation, Osaka, Japan, and an alumna of the 2021–2025 batch, shared her inspiring professional journey from studying Civil Engineering at JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) to establishing a successful career in Japan’s design industry.

During the session, Ms. Chaudhary highlighted her academic preparation, placement experiences, and strategies that facilitated her transition into a global work setting. She elaborated on the professional ethics, discipline, and work culture prevalent in Japanese organisations, emphasising adaptability, teamwork, and respect for hierarchy as key to professional success abroad.

The session also covered crucial aspects such as recruitment procedures in Japan, the importance of learning the Japanese language, and practical guidance on cost of living, salary expectations, and work-life balance. Furthermore, Ms. Chaudhary advised students on portfolio development, interview readiness, and the significance of cultivating cross-cultural communication and confidence.

Reflecting on her journey, Ms. Neha Chaudhary remarked, “Studying at JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) built a strong foundation that helped me navigate global challenges with confidence. The willingness to learn, adapt, and communicate across cultures is what truly defines success in today’s interconnected world.”

The webinar proved to be a valuable learning experience, broadening students’ understanding of international career pathways and inspiring them to pursue opportunities beyond geographical boundaries. Participants appreciated the speaker’s practical insights and engaging narrative, which provided clarity and motivation to shape their future aspirations.
