Bengaluru: The Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) at JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) formally inaugurated its IEEE Student Chapter on 2 December 2025, marking an important milestone in strengthening technical excellence, research culture, and professional development within the student community. The event was held on campus in the presence of eminent leaders from the IEEE Bangalore Section and senior university representatives.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by distinguished guests, including Dr Chengappa, Vice-Chair, IEEE Bangalore Section; Dr Devanathan M, SAC Chair, IEEE Bangalore Section; and Dr Thillai Arasu N, ITS Chair, REVA University. Senior leaders from the university, including Dr Deepak Sinha and Dr Kamalesh Tiwari, also graced the occasion and addressed the gathering. Special messages from Shri Ravindra Bhandari, Vice-President, JGI, delivered by Dr Deepak K. Sinha, and from Dr Nation, Chief Mentor, JGI, delivered by Dr Vashudha Hedgre, further underscored the institution’s commitment to advancing engineering education.
The speakers emphasised the pivotal role of the IEEE Student Chapter in strengthening collaboration between academia and industry. They highlighted how the chapter will create a platform for students to engage in multidisciplinary research, emerging technologies, and global professional networks. The chapter plans to host a series of workshops, expert lectures, hackathons, and interactive forums designed to cultivate innovation and nurture future technology leaders.
Reflecting on the significance of the launch, Dr Chengappa stated, “Establishing an IEEE Student Chapter is not merely the addition of another student body; it is an investment in cultivating the next generation of engineers who will shape technological progress. The enthusiasm displayed by the students of FET demonstrates a strong foundation for impactful initiatives in the years ahead.”
The inauguration concluded with an interactive session encouraging students to participate actively in upcoming activities and contribute to the chapter’s development. The IEEE Student Chapter at FET is expected to play a transformative role in enhancing research exposure, professional readiness, and leadership skills among engineering students.
