Bengaluru: The Department of Computer Science and Business Systems, JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), Bengaluru, organised a one-day Workshop on Generative AI (GenAI) on 27 October 2025. The workshop, conducted under the technical club $Echo, aimed to equip students with practical insights into emerging artificial intelligence technologies and their real-world applications.
Held in two sessions at the FET Seminar Hall, the workshop was inaugurated under the guidance of Dr. P. T. Sivasankar, Professor and Programme Head, and was graced by the presence of Dr. Kamalesh Tiwari, Professor and Head, and Dr. Deepak Sinha, Deputy Director, who delivered the Presidential and Felicitation Addresses respectively. The event was coordinated by Dr. Mahiba, Faculty Coordinator, alongside Yeswant, Student Coordinator, supported by the faculty members and volunteers of the CSBS Department.
The sessions were led by Mr. Joshua Daniel, Founder and Director of Cabonomics IT Services Pvt. Ltd., Bengaluru, who brought over 18 years of experience in IT infrastructure, digital transformation, and automation, having previously worked with global enterprises such as HCL Technologies, Johnson & Johnson, and Abbvie.
The morning session introduced participants to the fundamentals of Generative AI, including applications such as ChatGPT, image generation, and content automation. The afternoon session provided hands-on exposure to building AI models using platforms like Hugging Face and Google Colab. Over 180 students from the 1st to 4th year of the CSBS programme actively participated in the sessions, gaining valuable practical experience.
The workshop explored key technologies such as Large Language Models (LLMs), LangChain, and AI-driven tools, while emphasising the importance of ethical AI development. The event successfully bridged the gap between theoretical learning and practical implementation, fostering a spirit of innovation and critical thinking among students.
Speaking about the workshop, Dr. P. T. Sivasankar, Professor and Programme Head, remarked, “The GenAI Workshop was designed to give our students an early and practical understanding of transformative AI technologies. It is encouraging to see their enthusiasm in applying these concepts to real-world challenges.”
The Workshop on Generative AI proved to be an enlightening and impactful experience, empowering participants to explore creativity through technology. The Department of Computer Science and Business Systems plans to organise a series of advanced sessions in the future to further enhance student competencies in AI and emerging digital technologies.
