JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) Mechanical Engineering Students Gain Industry Exposure through Visit to Stovekraft Limited

Bengaluru, October 11, 2025: The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), organised an educational industrial visit to Stovekraft Limited, Harohalli, Kanakapura, on 11th October 2025. The visit aimed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and practical industrial experience for first-year B.Tech Mechanical Engineering students.

During the visit, 36 students, accompanied by Dr. I. Kantharaj (Faculty Coordinator) and two non-teaching staff members, explored the large-scale manufacturing processes at one of India’s leading kitchen appliance manufacturers. The tour provided first-hand exposure to industrial operations, including sheet metal fabrication, die-casting, injection moulding, assembly lines, and quality testing systems.

The technical team at Stovekraft guided students through the company’s automated manufacturing and quality control units, explaining how advanced technologies such as robotic welding, lean manufacturing, and Six Sigma principles contribute to production efficiency and sustainability. The students also interacted with engineers who discussed real-world applications of mechanical engineering concepts, industry safety standards, and future career pathways in manufacturing and design.

“Industrial visits like these are instrumental in nurturing students’ understanding of engineering beyond textbooks. Observing automation and process discipline in a live industrial environment enhances their readiness for professional roles,” said Dr. I. Kantharaj, Faculty Coordinator, Department of Mechanical Engineering.

The visit reinforced the importance of aligning theoretical knowledge with industry practice and instilled professional discipline among the students. It also highlighted Stovekraft’s commitment to sustainable manufacturing practices and innovation in consumer appliance production.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering extends its gratitude to Stovekraft Limited's management and staff for their hospitality and valuable technical insights. The department aims to continue organising such experiential learning opportunities to strengthen students’ practical and professional competencies.
