JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) Successfully Concludes 3-Day Faculty Development Programme on VLSI – Digital Design Flow

Bengaluru, 20 September 2025: The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET), JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), Global Campus, in collaboration with Entuple Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Bengaluru, successfully organised a three-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on VLSI – Digital Design Flow from 17 to 19 September 2025.

The FDP aimed to strengthen industry-academia linkages and provide participants with advanced knowledge in Very Large-Scale Integration (VLSI) design practices. The programme attracted enthusiastic participation from postgraduate students, research scholars, and faculty members, offering them the opportunity to gain practical exposure to modern digital design methodologies. Sessions covered key aspects such as design specification and RTL coding, simulation using the Xcelium Simulator, code coverage with the Integrated Metrics Centre, synthesis, testing, equivalence checking, implementation, and timing analysis and debugging.

The programme featured expert sessions by senior field application engineers Mr. Navaneethakrishnan Veerachamy and Mr. Prashanth Reddy B. M. from Entuple Technologies. These engineers shared valuable insights into real-world VLSI design practices, enriching the learning experience and ensuring participants gained both theoretical and applied perspectives.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sumit Kumar, Professor and Head of the Department of ECE, and convener of the FDP, remarked: “This programme reflects our commitment to bridging the gap between academic learning and industry practice. By engaging with industry experts, participants not only enhanced their technical expertise but also developed the skills needed to contribute meaningfully to the evolving field of VLSI design.”

The event was further supported by distinguished dignitaries from FET, including Dr. Venkadeswaran K, Deputy Dean – Academics; Beemkumar Nagappan, Deputy Dean – Research; Prof. (Dr.) Deepak Sinha, Deputy Director – Industry Interface & Training, and Mr. Kamlesh Tiwari, Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, whose presence added significance to the programme.

The Department of ECE expressed gratitude to Sri Ravindra Bhandary, Vice President, JGI Group, for extending approvals and support, as well as to the organising committee comprising Mr. Sunil M. P. (Programme Coordinator), Dr. Premkumar R. (Programme Co-coordinator), and Mr. Pramod R. (Event Coordinator), whose meticulous planning ensured the success of the event.

The FDP concluded as a milestone initiative in fostering innovation, industry collaboration, and skill development in VLSI design, setting the foundation for future engagements in this critical domain.
