NSS wing of School of Engineering and Technology, Jain (Deemed-to-be University) conducted Matribhasha Diwas program on cultural integration of India on 14 February 2020.
UNESCO has declared 20 February every year as International Mother Language Day to promote the dissemination of mother tongues and to promote linguistic and cultural traditions throughout the world to inspire solidarity based on understanding, tolerance, and dialogue. It has been decided to celebrate “Matribhasha Diwas” to promote the use of the mother tongue. The program was initiated with an informative and valuable speech by Dr. Chandrashekar, Director, Centre for Distance Education & Virtual Learning. Prof. Raghu. N, NSS officer, Jain (Deemed-to-be University), students and staff members were present during the event. As a part of the celebration, the NSS wing organized the singing and dance program with an objective of informing the people on the inevitability for the greater use of mother tongues and other Indian languages for the growth and progress of the nation.
