JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) Strengthens Industry-Academia Collaboration with UD Trucks India

Bengaluru, 20th February 2026: The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), formalised a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with UD Trucks India on 20th February 2026, marking a key step in enhancing collaboration between academic learning and industry practices. The MoU signing and coordination were led by Dr. Ramachandran T, Professor - Mechanical Engineering, and Dr. Beemkumar, Deputy Dean - Research.

The ceremony began with a welcome address, followed by remarks from the honourable Vice President of JAIN Group, Mr. Ravindra Bhandari, and senior officials from UD Trucks India, including Mr. Saravana Arjun, Director - Product Industrialisation, and Mr. Midhun Chakravarthi, Senior Manager - Purchase. A major highlight was the inauguration of a driveline demonstration by Mr. Bhandari, which was followed by a live technical session conducted by the UD Trucks technical team. This provided students with direct exposure to automotive driveline systems and industrial engineering practices.

The event also featured an interactive student engagement programme, including a corporate presentation by UD Trucks and a question-and-answer session. Students discussed topics such as internships, industry-oriented training programmes, final-year projects, placement opportunities, product development, and manufacturing and marketing strategies, gaining firsthand insight into industry operations.

Under the terms of the MoU, UD Trucks India has agreed to offer internship opportunities, placement support, industrial visits to manufacturing facilities, technical knowledge-sharing sessions, and research collaboration initiatives involving faculty and research scholars.

The partnership reflects JAIN (Deemed-to-be University)’s ongoing focus on providing practical exposure alongside academic learning and demonstrates the institution’s commitment to strengthening links between education and industry. The collaboration is expected to support student engagement with real-world engineering practices and create opportunities for research and professional development.
