Bengaluru, 25th April 2026: Exploring the cutting edge of visual innovation, the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), Bengaluru, hosted an online webinar on 25 April 2026. Titled “Next-Generation Display Devices: Materials, Technologies, and Applications,” the session brought together students and faculty for an in-depth look at the innovations shaping modern display systems.
Delivered by Dr. Akanksha Singh, Material Scientist at Helio Display Materials Limited, UK, the session bridged academic theory with industry practice. Beginning with the evolution of display technologies from traditional cathode ray tubes to advanced flat-panel systems—the discussion quickly moved into emerging solutions such as OLED, Micro-LED, and Quantum Dot displays. Through clear explanations and real-world examples, the speaker highlighted how these technologies are redefining performance standards in terms of brightness, efficiency, flexibility, and colour accuracy.
A key strength of the webinar lay in its focus on materials and fabrication processes, offering participants insight into the science behind these innovations. Dr. Singh also addressed current challenges in manufacturing and scalability, providing a realistic view of the field alongside its opportunities. Students engaged actively throughout, raising questions on applications, research pathways, and industry expectations.
The session not only deepened technical understanding but also connected classroom learning with practical, real-world developments. It encouraged participants to consider careers and research in display engineering, a field increasingly central to consumer electronics, automotive systems, and emerging digital interfaces.
As industries continue to demand more efficient and immersive display solutions, such academic-industry interactions play a crucial role in preparing students for future challenges. The webinar underscored the importance of staying aligned with technological advancements while fostering curiosity and innovation among aspiring engineers.
