Bengaluru, 10th April 2026: Focusing on mental clarity in an increasingly distracted world, the Happiness Cell of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) organised a session titled “Two-Factor Authentication for the Mind: Attention and Awareness” on 10th April 2026, JAIN Global Campus. Led by Dr. Sarala Upadhya, the session aimed to strengthen students’ focus, emotional awareness, and overall well-being.
Drawing parallels between digital security and human cognition, the session introduced attention and awareness as two essential mechanisms for maintaining mental balance. Dr. Upadhya explained how attention enables individuals to remain focused on the present moment, while awareness allows them to observe thoughts and emotions objectively, without judgement. This dual approach, she emphasised, is key to navigating the demands of a fast-paced academic environment.
The session blended theory with practical application, as participants were guided through mindfulness exercises, breathing techniques, and simple concentration practices. These methods were designed to help students manage stress, enhance productivity, and cultivate emotional resilience in their daily routines.
Interactive activities and relatable examples added depth to the learning experience, encouraging students to reflect on their habits and identify areas for improvement. The engaging format fostered active participation from both students and faculty, creating a collaborative environment for discussion and self-awareness.
The event also underscored the growing importance of mental health awareness within academic institutions. By addressing challenges related to focus, stress, and emotional balance, the session reinforced the role of the Happiness Cell in nurturing a supportive and mindful campus culture.
The programme concluded with an interactive question-and-answer segment, where participants engaged directly with the speaker to clarify their queries. The session left attendees with practical tools and meaningful insights, equipping them to better manage their mental well-being in both academic and personal contexts.
