Strengthening Workplace Safety: POSH Policy Awareness Session at FET

Bengaluru, 3 January 2026: The Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET), JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), in association with the Department of Student Affairs and the National Service Scheme (NSS), successfully conducted a POSH Policy Awareness Session titled “Empowering Our Workplace” on 3 January 2026. The session was held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Seminar Hall 002, FET, and witnessed active participation from faculty members, staff, and students.

The awareness session was organised to strengthen institutional understanding of the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act and to reinforce the university’s commitment to fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive academic and professional environment. The programme was graced by Dr Rajani Jayaram, Dean – Student Affairs, JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), whose presence underscored the institution’s proactive approach towards statutory compliance and workplace wellbeing.

The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr Anita Chaturvedi, who emphasised the importance of professional ethics, mutual respect, and awareness of rights and responsibilities within the workplace. She highlighted the need for continuous sensitisation to ensure a culture of dignity and accountability across the university.

The session was led by the invited resource person, Prof. Sreevidya Subramanyan, who delivered a comprehensive and insightful presentation on the POSH Act. Her address covered the objectives of the legislation, definitions and forms of sexual harassment, the rights and duties of employees, and the role and functioning of the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC). The session incorporated practical illustrations and real-life scenarios, enabling participants to clearly distinguish acceptable and unacceptable workplace behaviour, understand reporting mechanisms, and become familiar with redressal procedures.

An interactive discussion segment allowed participants to seek clarifications on POSH compliance, confidentiality protocols, and preventive measures. The engagement reflected strong interest among attendees and reinforced the session's relevance in promoting awareness and responsible conduct.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Rajani Jayaram stated, “Creating a safe and inclusive workplace is not merely a statutory requirement but a shared responsibility. Sessions such as these play a crucial role in building awareness, trust, and accountability within the university community.”

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr Rajani Jayaram, who expressed her appreciation to the resource person, organisers, and participants for their active involvement and support in making the session meaningful and impactful.

The POSH Policy Awareness Session reaffirmed JAIN (Deemed-to-be University)’s commitment to upholding ethical standards, gender sensitivity, and institutional responsibility, while laying the groundwork for continued engagement and awareness initiatives in the future.
