Students Explore Sustainable Practices at Green and Energy Audit Workshop

Bengaluru, 27th March 2026: The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Faculty of Engineering and Technology, JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) hosted a one-day workshop on “Powering Sustainability: Green Audit & Energy Audit” on 27th March 2026 at the JAIN Global Campus. Organised under the SPARK Club, the event brought together 60 students and faculty members to gain practical insights into sustainable environmental and energy management.

The workshop opened with a welcome address by Dr Vasudha Hegde, Professor and Head of the Department, highlighting the growing importance of sustainability in engineering and management practices. The sessions were led by Dr Logeswaran T, Senior Associate Professor at Kongu Engineering College, a Certified Energy Auditor and Energy Manager accredited by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency and a Certified Accredited Professional with the Indian Green Building Council. The programme was curated by Dr V Pushparajesh, Associate Professor, and Dr Trupti V N, Assistant Professor, with student coordination by Dhanush K.

Participants embarked on an interactive journey through sustainability principles, exploring how green and energy audits contribute to environmental conservation and resource efficiency. Dr Logeswaran guided the students through the methodologies of conducting green audits, demonstrating data collection techniques, environmental indicators, and the use of standard tools, supported by case studies. The workshop also delved into energy audits, covering types of audits, energy measurement methods, identification of energy-saving opportunities, and the integration of renewable energy solutions such as solar and wind power.

Hands-on exercises enabled students to simulate audit processes, analyse energy consumption patterns, and prepare comprehensive audit reports. Through these activities, participants developed critical skills in problem-solving, data analysis, and practical recommendations for sustainability initiatives. Many students noted that seeing theoretical concepts applied in real-world scenarios reinforced their understanding and inspired confidence to contribute to eco-friendly projects within their institutions or communities.

The workshop concluded with reflections on the broader relevance of sustainability in professional practice, emphasising that knowledge of green and energy audits is increasingly essential in today’s environmental and corporate landscape. By equipping students with both technical expertise and practical experience, the event underscored JAIN (Deemed-to-be University)’s commitment to fostering future-ready graduates capable of leading sustainable initiatives across industries and research domains.
