School of Engineering and Technology, Jain (Deemed-to-be University) celebrated “Swachhata Hi Sewa Campaign” Pakhwada on 28, 30 September and 1 October 2019. This focused on raising awareness among people regarding major environmental issues. “Save Water, Save Electricity, Say No to Plastic”, being the motto of The Swachhata Hi Sewa Campaign Project, this particular event mainly focused on using cotton bags instead of polythene bags and Plastic carry bags both inside and outside the campus.
Door-to-door Campaign and meetings with respect to “Say No to Plastic” and “Save Water” program were conducted in the nearby Villages like T Hosahalli and Chick Devarahalli during 09.30 AM to 3:00 PM, by students and staff members.
The students took out a rally carrying play cards with various slogans related to no plastic all the way. The other half of program commenced with the informative speech mentioning the hazardous effect of the use of polythene bags. Dr. S.A. Hariprasad, Director, SET-JU, Dr. Chandrashekar, Dr. A.V. Raghu and Prof. Raghu. N, NSS officer took oath along with the students and Staff members that they would not use poly-bags, plastic carry bags and declared that from now on the campus would be ‘polythene bag free zone’. They distributed the cotton bags to all the faculty members and not teaching staff.
