The Cyber Security Research Centre (CSRC), in collaboration with the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), successfully hosted a one-day workshop on “Cyber Security and Incident Response Management: An Industry Perspective on Threats, Challenges, and Best Practices.” Led by Dr. Sanjay Adiwal, Scientist ‘E’ at C-DAC Bangalore, the session provided postgraduate Computer Science students with industry-relevant insights into managing cybersecurity threats and incident response effectively. Dr. Adiwal, a distinguished cybersecurity expert with over 18 years of experience in IT, IoT, and Cybersecurity Research, shared his extensive knowledge on real-world cyber threats and best practices. With a PhD in Cyber Security from NITK Surathkal, he currently leads the Information Security Services Group at C-DAC Bangalore, specialising in Vulnerability Assessments and Data Center Security. Having conducted over 100 workshops and delivered over 50 technical talks at prestigious forums worldwide, his expertise provided invaluable insights into cybersecurity methodologies and incident response strategies.
The session covered an overview of the evolving cyber threat landscape, the significance of Incident Response Management (IRM) in mitigating cyber risks, and best practices for detecting and responding to cyber incidents. With active participation from 40 students, the workshop featured engaging discussions, practical demonstrations, and a hands-on approach to incident handling, forensic investigations, and mitigation strategies. The interactive Q&A segment allowed students to clarify doubts and gain deeper insights into cybersecurity challenges. By the end of the workshop, participants had enhanced their understanding of cyber threats, acquired hands-on knowledge of incident response strategies, and bridged the gap between academic learning and industry applications. The Cyber Security Research Centre (CSRC) and the Department of Computer Science and Engineering remain committed to organising more insightful sessions, fostering innovation, and equipping students with cutting-edge skills to excel in the ever-evolving field of cybersecurity.
