Siemens and JAIN (Deemed-To-Be-University) Collaborate on a Centre for EV Design

Faculty of Engineering & Technology, JAIN (Deemed-To-Be-University) and Siemens India Ltd have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish the “Siemens Excellence Centre for Electric Vehicle Design” in Industry Integrated Program. The MoU aims to strengthen the industry-institute association that will prove to be a vital link in reducing the technology adoption curve for the faculty and students.

Mr. Aiyappan Ramamurthy, the Director of Siemens, with his team and Vice President of Jain Trust, Mr. Ravindra Bandary inaugurated this event. The celebration began with ribbon cutting and inaugurals from the dignitaries of Siemens and Jain University followed by spiritual song and lamp lighting. 

Dr Geetha G, Director of Computer Science gave the welcome address followed by a talk on collaboration given by Dr. Hariprasad S A, Director, FET – JU. The director of Siemens shared insights on the collaboration and said “As an organization, Siemens believes in fostering sustainable partnerships with academic institutions for knowledge sharing. We are proud to associate with Jain University through this MoU and believe that it would serve as a vital link in reducing the technology adoption curve especially in the world of process Electric Vehicle design”.

The MoU would facilitate in promoting the SITRAIN, Siemens Ltd. designed training courses to the faculty of various Engineering Colleges across India. The training module has been designed with an objective to provide effective, flexible and value-based training to faculty. The certification courses encompass a step-by-step learning approach and also include demonstration sessions as well as hands-on practice sessions.

Expressing his delight about the newly-formed collaboration, Mr. Ravindra Bandary said, “This is an excellent example of co-ordination and co-operation between Industry and Institute.” Further seconding the concept was Dr. Hariprasad S A, Director, FET – JU said, “The aim of this training is to train the trainer which will result in quality teaching in Electric Vehicle field and will help in increasing awareness about Electric Vehicle field amongst the masses”.

The event was a big success since this collaboration of the industry and education sector will provide high quality teaching concepts to the faculty. The faculty and management are looking forward to this partnership. The event was concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Antanio Davis, Director, IIAEM – JU.
